Over the last year, the people of Pine Run UMC have been in conversation about our building.  Since we moved to our current location from State Street in the early 1950s, this building has been filled with the joy of weddings, the mournful tears of funerals, the laughter of children in Sunday School, and the worshipful singing of the saints of God.  Probably many of the most important events in your life took place in this building.  How many of us have “our pew” where we sit Sunday after Sunday?

When we built this church building, young men and women from the church helped to lay the tile in the fellowship hall.  We worshipped in the fellowship hall while the sanctuary was being built, and we worshipped amid the cinderblocks until we had raised the money to plaster and paint the sanctuary.  We have a long and a proud history in this place.  And we have a bright and promising future in this place.

We are in the beginning stages of a process to rebuild, restore, and renew our church building.  The last building updates were made in the late 1980s, and our building is showing its age.  Over the last six months we have begun exploring our options and our priorities

Our church voted to take out a $20,000 loan to begin the most urgent structural work.  Our boiler system has been brought up to code, and work will begin on our bell tower, roof and gutters in short order.  These are the first steps that we will take together.

We have every confidence in the faithfulness of the people of Pine Run Church.  We know that now is the time to begin bringing the church we love into the 21st century for the people we love.  When we have finished remodeling we will have a church building that we can be proud of, a physical plant that fits the needs of our community, and a sacred space that is inviting to all who enter.
